Symphony Dining at Moda
A Sell Out Live Music Dining Experience in a Family Owned Independent Restaurant
Some ideas work because they look good on paper. Others work because they solve real problems for real businesses. Symphony Dining at Moda was firmly the latter. It was designed to create a premium live music dining experience for guests while delivering clear, measurable commercial value for an independent restaurant.
In June 2025, Artist Republic delivered the first Symphony Dining event at Moda Italian Restaurant on Annesley Road in Hucknall. Moda is a family owned, independent restaurant positioned as the area’s premier destination for high quality Italian food. With seating for approximately 130 covers, mainly arranged in tables of two and four, the restaurant already enjoyed a strong reputation locally. The challenge was not filling tables on busy weekends, but finding a way to generate meaningful revenue on nights when the restaurant would normally be closed.
Symphony Dining provided that solution.
The Concept
Following an initial meeting with the restaurant owner, we jointly explored which musical theme would best complement Moda’s brand and clientele. The decision was made to launch the concept using the music of Queen. The catalogue is instantly recognisable, emotionally charged, and broad enough to appeal to multiple generations, making it an ideal choice for a first event.
The Symphony Dining format combines a high quality live music performance with a curated dining experience. Rather than background entertainment, the music is a central feature of the evening, carefully timed and presented to enhance the atmosphere without overwhelming conversation or service. The aim is to elevate a meal into an event.
From the outset, it was clear that this had to be a collaboration rather than a takeover. The restaurant’s identity, standards, and customer experience remained paramount, with Artist Republic providing the creative, operational, and marketing framework to make the event work seamlessly.
Commercial Results
The results exceeded expectations.
The event sold out in just nine days. Crucially, this was achieved with no marketing workload placed on the restaurant owner. All promotion, ticketing, customer communication, and event management were handled by Artist Republic through the Symphony Dining brand.
Because the event operated on a pre booking and pre order basis, final meal choices were supplied to the restaurant seven days in advance. Guests selected from a carefully designed set menu consisting of three starters, five mains, and three desserts, all chosen collaboratively with the restaurant owner to reflect Moda’s strengths and kitchen workflow.
This approach delivered several major commercial advantages.
Food wastage was zero.
Staffing levels were perfectly matched to demand.
Kitchen prep was streamlined and predictable.
Service ran smoothly throughout the evening.
The event was held on a Monday night, a day when the restaurant is traditionally closed and normally generates no revenue at all. On this occasion, the evening generated approximately £8,500 in additional revenue. Due to the efficiency of pre ordering and certainty of covers, it was also one of the most cost effectively profitable nights the restaurant had experienced.
In addition, Moda retained all upsell revenue. Sales of wine, Prosecco, champagne, and other drinks were significantly higher than average, providing an additional boost that the restaurant team were particularly pleased with.
The Guest Experience
From a guest perspective, the evening felt exclusive, intimate, and well paced. The live music added atmosphere and emotional impact, while the structure of the event ensured that dining remained the focus rather than feeling like a disrupted service.
Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The restaurant’s own social media channels saw a strong and enthusiastic response, with guests praising both the quality of the food and the uniqueness of the experience. Symphony Dining’s post event survey echoed this sentiment, highlighting high satisfaction levels and strong demand for future events.
Many attendees described the night as something genuinely different from a standard meal out or a traditional live music night. It felt curated, intentional, and premium.
Artist Republic’s Role
Symphony Dining at Moda is a clear example of Artist Republic’s ability to design experiences that work creatively and commercially.
Our involvement covered the full scope of the project:
• Concept development and theme selection
• Live music programming and performer booking
• Event pricing and capacity modelling
• Ticketing and customer communications
• Marketing and promotion under the Symphony Dining brand
• Menu planning in collaboration with the restaurant
• Pre order systems and data management
• On the night event coordination
• Post event feedback collection and analysis
By managing every element centrally, we removed risk and workload from the restaurant while maximising both guest satisfaction and profitability.
A Proven Model
The success of the June 2025 event led directly to further collaboration. Following a review meeting with the restaurant owner, three additional Symphony Dining dates have now been agreed for 2026, each with a different musical theme. These events are scheduled to go on sale in spring 2026.
For Moda, Symphony Dining has turned a zero revenue night into one of the most financially efficient evenings of the year. For guests, it has created a reason to return and to talk about the restaurant in a new way. For Artist Republic, it demonstrates the strength of the Symphony Dining model as a scalable, repeatable concept that delivers real value to independent hospitality venues.
Symphony Dining at Moda Italian Restaurant stands as a blueprint for how live music and dining can be combined intelligently to create unforgettable experiences and meaningful commercial results.
