Seven UK dates on The Runrig Experience's November tour have sold to 97 per cent capacity in under a week of going on sale, a conversion rate that is unusual in a market where most similarly themed shows rely on Friday and Saturday nights to fill a room.
The run in full: Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline on Thursday 19 November, Victoria Hall in Ballater on Friday 20 November, Strathpeffer Pavilion on Saturday 21 November, Victoria Hall in Settle on Sunday 22 November, Yorkshire Museum in York on Monday 23 November, Nottingham Arts Theatre on Wednesday 25 November, and the 1532 Theatre at Bristol Grammar School on Thursday 26 November.
Three of those seven nights land on a Sunday, a Monday and a Wednesday, the kind of midweek slot most touring shows leave to fill a gap between weekends rather than expect to sell in its own right. On this run they have sold at close to the same rate as the Friday and Saturday shows around them, which points to audiences buying tickets for the production itself rather than for a convenient night out.
Callum MacDonald, a founding member of Runrig, has already spoken about the connection this show still draws from the band's fans. “We're so humbled that after 50 years people still want to hear these songs live and they do them so well,” he said of the production.
The Runrig Experience is managed through Artist Republic and produced on tour by The Live Music Co, taking the music of one of Scotland’s most significant bands into theatres and concert halls across the country. The demand on this run, spread across a full working week rather than concentrated at its edges, is the kind of booking pattern venues and promoters watching the touring circuit will want to note. Full details of the tour and future dates are available through The Live Music Co.
